What to Expect

 

Meet and Greet Consultation

During our initial meeting, we will take the time to explore what has led you to seek therapy, including both physical and mental health concerns, as well as gather some background information about you. We will discuss your goals and what you hope to achieve through psychotherapy, tailoring our approach to meet your specific needs. Your comfort and trust in the therapeutic process are paramount, so if for any reason we feel that our therapist may not be the best fit for you, we will provide you with referrals to other professionals who may better suit your needs. Additionally, you have the right to express any concerns or preferences regarding your therapist, and we will respect and accommodate your wishes to ensure you receive the support you need.

Duration and frequency of sessions

Typically, we schedule sessions with clients once a week for 50 minutes to ensure consistency and progress in therapy. However, we are adaptable to accommodate individual needs and preferences. Depending on your schedule and the nature of your treatment, we may adjust the frequency of sessions or consider longer sessions if appropriate. During our initial consultation, we will discuss the treatment plan, including session frequency and duration, and revisit it as needed throughout the therapy process. Establishing a consistent day and time for sessions can help create a routine and facilitate progress. While regular attendance is crucial for effective therapy, we understand that life can be unpredictable, and we are willing to work with you to find solutions during times when regular sessions may not be possible.

 

Private Health Insurance

We recommend that you contact your workplace insurance provider to inquire about the specific coverage offered by your plan. We accept insurance from reputable companies such as Blue Cross, Great-West Life, Manulife, and SunLife. Additionally, we offer direct billing services with Blue Cross and Green Shield for your convenience. Understanding the details of your insurance coverage can help ensure a smooth billing process and maximize the benefits available to you for therapy services. Feel free to reach out to your insurance provider or us for any assistance or clarification regarding your coverage.

Fees for Service 

Please note that psychotherapy services are not covered by the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) unless provided by a psychiatrist or a general practitioner MD conducting psychotherapy. Our rates at the clinic represent the current mid-range in Toronto. During the intake interview, your Therapist will discuss the fees with you and inform you in advance of any changes to the agreed-upon fee. We strive to offer affordable psychotherapy services to our clients. However, please be aware that HST is payable on these services as they are not considered medical expenses. If you have any questions or concerns about the fees or billing, please do not hesitate to reach out to our team for clarification and assistance.

 

How to Pay

Payment for counselling and mental health services is required at the conclusion of each session, and a receipt will be provided upon receipt of payment. It is recommended that you keep this receipt for potential insurance claims or income tax purposes, if applicable. If you plan to seek reimbursement from your insurance provider, it is advised to submit your receipt promptly after each session. Payment can be made using cash, credit card, debit card, e-transfer, or cheque at the end of your session, and a receipt will be issued at that time as well.
